1-The best beach:
The best beach I visited on Elba Island, for sure. The water is stunningly green/blue, creating a striking contrast with the white stones. The path to reach the beach offers an impressive landscape, perfect for capturing very pleasant photographs.
Another beach for those on the island to visit… I can say that paradise truly exists here, with warm, clear water. It’s tranquil and well-organized. I’ll share a tip: if you’re coming by car to Piombino, bring your car to the island. There are many places to explore, and plan to stay at least two days to make the most of it!
One of the best beaches I’ve ever seen. Very clean, great water, spectacular sunset! Beautiful white sands, and, of course, opportunities for jet skiing, diving, and so on. Good beach bars around, however, very quiet with no shops around. Very peaceful and romantic.
4-Sea stunning, energetic wave:
A gravel beach with smooth white stones. The water is nothing short of spectacular and full of fish that eat bread from our hands. The beach is tiny, right next to the road. We were set up near the shore when the passage of a ship caused a giant wave that literally submerged half the beach and all our belongings – phones, bags, wallets, clothes, beach towels, stroller… later, we were told it happens twice a day.
5-Beautiful beach of white pebbles:
The beach is easily accessible by car, free parking along the road. Not far from Portoferraio. The sea is clear and crystalline; bring a mask to observe the fish! White pebble beach, with the possibility to rent umbrellas and sunbeds (30€) or canoes/pedal boats; ample free beach area. There is also a bar right in front of the beach. Highly recommended!
6-Pebble beach and crystal-clear sea:
The beach is located very close to the port of Portoferraio and is therefore easily accessible, although there are not many parking spaces. There is a large portion of free beach, and the beach is made up of many pebbles and small stones. The sea is crystal clear with many fish. It is recommended to use water shoes and goggles to observe the fish and the seabed. It’s not a secluded beach, so there are many tourists.
Exceptional… I remember very well the first time. It was an April 25 years ago. It was drizzling. I saw that fantastic sea… fabulous… and I said to myself: If it’s like this in April, imagine in August. And so I booked. From that moment, the Ghiaie beach… of the people of Portoferraio, became my beach. Always on Elba Island… always at the Ghiaie. From 7:00 in the morning to 5:00 in the afternoon… sunbathing… How beautiful… everything fabulous. Alberto Panerai. Genoa.
8-The first splendid beach visited on Elba:
As we disembarked from the ferry, it was the first beach on the island that we reached. It is very close to the historic center of Portoferraio, so it is often frequented by the city’s residents.
Not very large, with white stones and gently sloping transparent green sea. A spectacle.
Many fish just a few steps from the shore.
The stretch of sea in front of the beach is a protected biological area due to the richness of marine flora and fauna.
The beach is equipped with a lighting system that allows for safe night swimming.
Water shoes are recommended for entering the water.
Close parking on the side of the road or you can use the Guardia Finanza Parking, a 5-minute walk away.
One of the white pebble beaches on the north coast in Portoferraio. Very long with establishments to rent umbrellas and sunbeds. The waters are crystal clear due to the white seabed, but it’s the city beach, consequently, very crowded and with the pedestrian street nearby. To be placed at the bottom of the list of white pebble beaches… Free parking is available; ask the locals as it is not signposted.
10-Bella. Ma che casotto!
Beautiful beach. Gorgeous sea. If you have the opportunity to snorkel, there are truly many fish!
That being said, it is a beach very close to the center, and therefore easily accessible. The result? A lot of people, many families and children.
So, if you have a family, highly recommended because it’s convenient. If you don’t have a family and are looking for more tranquility, perhaps this is not the best option.
